Daniel Corrie
Daniel is a Senior Manager in Climate Adaptation & Strategic Reform with the Australian Fisheries Management Authority. AFMA's is responsible for the efficient management and sustainable use of Commonwealth fish resources on behalf of the Australian community.
In his role, Dan is responsible for ensuring the impacts of climate change are considered, and to the extent possible mitigated, as part of AFMA's formal decision-making processes. To enable these outcomes, he regularly works closely with managers, fishers and scientists from across Australia and overseas to identify and establish best-practice science and management processes. Dan is based in the regional Victorian town of Lakes Entrance where AFMA has one of its four national offices.
Dan undertook his undergraduate studies at the University of Melbourne, where he completed a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Marine Biology in 2006. He then completed a Masters Degree (Living Marine Resources) at the Australian Maritime College and a Diploma of Public Administration at the University of Canberra. Dan began working with AFMA 12 years ago as part of their graduate program and has since filled a number of roles including managing demersal and midwater trawl fisheries and strategic fishery monitoring and assessment.
