Manon Mercader

I am originally from the Mediterranean coast of southern France, where I completed my academic training at the Université de Perpignan, including a PhD on the ecological restoration of shallow nursery habitats for coastal fishes. Over the past few years, my research has expanded from restoration ecology to evolutionary ecology, integrating field ecology, phenotypic analyses and population genomics to understand how coral reef fishes respond to environmental variation. Since 2020, I have been a postdoctoral researcher in the Marine Eco-Evo-Devo Unit at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST), Japan. My current research explores the interplay between phenotypic plasticity and local adaptation in coral reef fishes, with a particular focus on the ecological and genetic mechanisms underlying colour variation.
