Kuo-Wei Yen
Kuo-Wei Yen is an Associate Researcher at the Marine Fisheries Division of the Fisheries Research Institute, Ministry of Agriculture (MOA), Taiwan. Holding a PhD from the Department of Environmental Biology and Fisheries Science, College of Ocean Science and Resources at National Taiwan Ocean University, Kuo-Wei has dedicated his career to advancing the sustainability of Taiwan's fisheries.
His research focuses on environmental monitoring of fishing grounds, applying satellite remote sensing in fisheries, identifying and addressing gaps in sustainable fisheries practices, and integrating emerging technologies into the sector. Kuo-Wei is also deeply committed to improving human rights within Taiwan's fishing industry.
Kuo-Wei has received several accolades throughout his career, including the prestigious Best Paper Award from the Korean Remote Sensing Society. His work has been published in prominent journals such as the International Journal of Remote Sensing, Ocean & Coastal Management, Marine Policy, Remote Sensing, Sustainability, and Animals.
In addition to his research, Kuo-Wei has been invited to join various local environmental research societies in Taiwan and remains open to engaging with international organizations. Driven by a passion for the ocean and seafood, Kuo-Wei is committed to the sustainable management of fisheries, ensuring that future generations can continue to benefit from these vital resources.
Outside of work, Kuo-Wei enjoys making new friends and is known for being a good listener, even though he prefers not to drink heavily. His dedication to his professional and personal communities is a testament to his commitment to fostering a sustainable and inclusive future for all.
